afrotigeress: Lesbian righs in cincinnati in danger...TAKE ACTION FOR EQUALITY: CONTACT CITY COUNCIL TODAY!]

Date: Tue, 07 Mar 2006 19:35:03 -0700

This bulletin from Equality Cincinnati - Please read and
take action before the opposition does!
URGENT!  Just this morning,
five of our allies on City Council introduced
legislation to restore protection from discrimination to gays and
lesbians in Cincinnati.  Your immediate action
is needed now to ensure that this proposal becomes law!
Please read on to find out how you can help!

As you know, in November of 2004, the people of Cincinnati voted
overwhelmingly to remove discrimination based on sexual orientation
from our city charter by repealing Article XII.   The
voters clearly said that discrimination against anyone is

Now it's time for CIty Council to take the next step and restore
protection from discrimination on the job, in housing, and in public
accommodations to gays and lesbians.  These are exactly the same
protections the city law currently extends to every citizen based on
religion, gender, age, race, color, disability status, marital
status or ethnic, national, or Appalachian regional origin.

These are the same protections that Article XII unfairly
withheld only from gays and lesbians. If you
still believe in fairness, here's what we need you to

Go right now to our website
 www.EqualityCincinnati.org to find out how.

PM in Room 300 at City Hall.  That's only days away!
We need EVERYONE there. Let us know you are coming by
simply replying to this e-mail!

CONTACTING CITY COUNCIL - This is the most important action for equality
since the City came together to repeal Article XII in 2004.  No one will
want to miss it!

iabhoru1adoreu: UC

I have a question...
A friend of mine is interested in UC and I want to ask a few questions since I'm gathering some info for her.

1) Is UC overall more left or right leaning? (this probably pertains more to this specific community:o)
2) How is the Psych program at UC? A lot of research opportunity, or not really?
3) How do you feel the queer community is at UC? Accepted? Not at all recognized?
4) What do you like best about UC?

There is a rally to support the library. The library isn't getting enough funding. They are closing on Sundays starting Aug. 21st and a lot of jobs are being cut. The rally will show people how much the library means to the city and they really need people out there helping out. It is from noon till one. Please come out!!!!

Sat. April 23rd. Downtown.

The Great American Clean Up. Please volunteer your time to help clean up Downtown Cincinnati. You can stay as long as you want. It will range from light to moderate work.

Please email me if you want to help us with either or both of these. We might be able to get free t-shirts to you guys if you will attend. We are working on getting them made right now so we will need a number on how many people will be there. Hopefully they will be here in time.

Tell your friends too!

mux_r: Wolfowitz gets the nod

Bush's yet another 'F7ck You' to the world.

First, John Bolton for the ambassador to the United Nations. Now, Paul Wolfowitz for the President of the World Bank. What next? Unbelievable! This one takes the cake though..

I've created a "lovemark" for Kerry on the lovemarks website, and sent a link to all of my friends... I went to go look at how it was doing, and I was dismayed to learn that a bunch of nasty Bushies had gone to my page and voted "lose it" on it...YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Anyway, it's nothing that will directly affect the election, but it's a fun website where you can nominate things that inspire you. I, of course, nominated John Kerry!!!!!!

So, for those of you who are fellow Kerry supporters, please consider taking a moment to SUPPORT OUR MAN. Here is the link:

Go to the lower left of the screen under Kerry's pic and vote "love it!!" You can also leave favorable comments about our guy. A lot of people from all over the world see this site. Unfortunately, I think some Bush supporters are deleting their cookies and voting over and over again, so I really hope I can get a lot of people to vote for Kerry!

Thank you again. If there is anything I can do to help any of you, like participate in a poll or visit your website, etc, let me know.

*Rock the UC Vote from 11-2 on McMicken Commons

*Student Government Meetings are open to the public.(unlike that removal trial on friday--which a few Senators did attempt to pass a bill through to make it an open hearing however, when it involves a hearing about possible repimanding and punishment of a student--it will always be closed.) We meet in 310 University Pavillion, so feel free to check out the meeting and give some input during "Comments from the Gallery" Starts at 6PM

*$2 progressive pitchers at Martino's on Vine, Dustin Miller and Brian Hanson will be doing some Meet the Candidate action.

Come out and see what exactly the craze was all about. See it for the first time, see it for the hundreth time. It's not a movie just about guns for those of you who heard that, it's all about life and what kind of world we live in today. It affects everyone, and I have yet to meet a person who didn't have strong feelings (good or bad) about the movie. Even if you disagree with him, it's good to know what you disagree with, dissenters are always appreciated.
starts at 7PM

Well kids...it's that time of the year. Guess who the dems are bringing onto campus...
JERRY SPRINGER - TUC ATRIUM - on campus helping register voters. Come register to vote and get a picture with the infamous former Mayor of Cincinnati and TV personality.

12 - noon

Planned Parenthood has not sent us official details yet, we're supposed to receive them by Thursday but we will be boarding buses and leaving Saturday night for Washington DC and the March for Women's Lives

we're also ordering tshirts. i wish they would be more blue than they are though...they're a blue to match the Kerry campaign signs.

the site has been updated, check it out:

we're still looking for a good webmaster...if anyone's interested

anything else comes up...i'll just um, add that later. :)
